ASSOCIATION FOR MODERN ECONOMY

Association for Modern Economy (AME) is a non­governmental and non-profit organization.

Mission ­ Modernization and enhancement of the economy and the social and business environment, which is essential for the future development of a dynamic and open society.

Members ­ Multi ethnic membership is seen as one of the main advantages of AME for achieving it’s objectives.

Members can be any Macedonia resident or foreign citizen who is familiar with AME program and objectives and who has the education and experience to ensure their fulfillment.

Priority is be given to businessmen, economists, jurists, solicitors, and engineers (electro technical, machinery, architecture, etc.).

Program and objectives ­ The accomplishment of AME’ mission is through a long term cooperation with both domestic and international organizations for the improvement and promotion of:

  • Welfare (economic effectiveness, social equality, democracy, and freedom of speech);
  • Open economy (as the base to follow developed countries and the opportunity of Euro-Atlantic integration of Macedonia);
  • Business initiatives and creativity;
  • Business information technology system;
  • Business communication;
  • Small and medium Enterprises (SME) Network,
  • The idea of existence of a flexible labor market.

The realization of AME’ objectives will be achieved by organizing professional courses in the field of business and economics, debates, round tables, conferences, and seminars (workshops). These activities aim to exchange international experience in finding solutions for social, economic and business challenges.

Also, from the very beginning of the year 2001, it is planned to start publishing of a publication titled ­ AME Newsletter. By the year 2001, it will be launched AME Quarterly.

  • International cooperation and networking
  • Women as businessmen
  • Small and Medium Enterprises (SME)
  • Democracy through business
  • Youth and business

Growing AME’ activities for each of these spheres will be found departments within AME.

Projects ­ Projects realized in 2000:

  • "The role of NGOs in Macedonia in promotion of the objectives of the Stability Pact", February 2000;
  • "Countries involved in the Stability Pact about the Stability Pact"; February­June 2000;
  • "Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) development in the region of Tetovo and Gostivar", February­May 2000.

Projects realised in 1999:

  • "Market based approach for temporary protection of refugees in Macedonia", June­December 1999 (supported by Open Society Institute, Macedonia).

Also, AME was partner in many other projects:

  • "Development and reform program ­ Macedonia 2003", May­December 1999, (supported by the Ministry of Development of Macedonia);
  • "Designing and strengthening the vocational training system in energy sector", within the SYNERGY Programme of the EC, November 1999, (Economica 2000, Sofia, Bulgaria);
  • "Web publication of macroeconomic aggregates for countries of the West Balkan", November 1999­2000 (CESS, Tirana, Albania);
  • other smaller projects.
