About
The Balkan Network Reforms for Economic Freedom and Prosperity The Balkan Network was organized by Chesapeake Associates in 1994 under a grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development. The Balkan Network has linked together a number of independent economic think tanks across Eastern and Southern Europe so that the newer organizations may benefit from the lessons learned by the more established organizations. The mission of each of these independent institutes is: to advocate for market-based solutions in the country's economic transition by contributing well-researched material on a range of important issues; to promote a democratic, market-oriented, free society by encouraging public debate; and to achieve policy reform in their countries and in the region by increasing their citizens' understanding of market-oriented policies. Members of the Balkan Network work closely with members of 3ENet (Network of Emerging European Economies), a coalition of similar institutes in neighboring countries. |
